TASTING NOTES

Production

Founded in 1986, Feudi di San Gregorio is today the flagship brand of Southern Italy’s wine renaissance and of a drinking culture aimed at rediscovering the essence and identity of Mediterranean flavours. It is undoubtedly a winery that identifies with its territory, Irpinia, in the province of Avellino, with its history, its values and its terroir of extraordinary potential. Scattered across the municipalities of Tufo, Taurasi and Santa Paolina, the vineyards of Feudi di San Gregorio lie between 350 and 700 metres above sea level, on volcanic soils. An extraordinary territory for producing wines of great character that are the expression of a strong sense of place. And it is precisely from the chalky soils of Santa Paolina that the finest bunches of Greco Bianco come; and from their careful selection comes Cutizzi, the most representative expression of Feudi di San Gregorio’s Greco di Tufo. Greco di Tufo is one of Campania’s most famous DOCG wines, a designation spanning eight municipalities in the province of Avellino. Energy value 322.0 kJ/77.0 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Feudi di San Gregorio’s Greco di Tufo Cutizzi has a lovely straw-yellow colour with golden highlights, whilst on the nose it expresses all the typical characteristics of the Greco Bianco variety: distinct fruit notes, ranging from green plum to pear, followed by balsamic hints of wild mint. The 4–5 months in stainless steel preserve all its lovely acidity and that distinct minerality typical of the region.

Occasion and Pairing

A Campania white wine with a lovely personality, excellent for everyday drinking or to accompany a lunch or dinner of fish and seafood. Also perfect paired with a juicy buffalo mozzarella and, why not, a lovely Margherita pizza.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Feudi di San Gregorio

Producer of fine Campanian wines, the Feudi di San Gregorio winery represents its land, Irpinia, in the province of Avellino at its best. Recognized as a symbol of the rebirth of the south from an oenological point of view, it is also a representation of a deeply rooted drinking culture that rediscovers the flavours of the Mediterranean and their essence. Aimed at researching the enormous potential that the area offers and at preserving tradition, today the winery can count on over 300 hectares of vineyards between both owned and rented vineyards. In these territories, which extend between 350 and 700 metres above sea level, the vineyards have always been flanked by orchards, olive groves and woods. The soils are predominantly volcanic and give life to genetically unique plants. The environmental balance is always at the centre of attention during all the winemaking processes, as is also demonstrated by the rooms in which these take place. Among the municipalities of Tufo, Santa Paolina and Taurasi, important designations are produced such as the white wines Fiano di Avellino and Greco di Tufo. From the renovation of the spaces, which took place in 2004, derived from research to bring together tradition with modern production technologies, specific winemaking facilities were created. The “Dubl” sparkling wines have a specific room, which then leads to a barrel cellar where you can find the red wines such as Taurasi. Every single space is designed to blend harmoniously into the land and to maintain a balanced impact on the environment. Name and address of producer/distributor: Feudi di San Gregorio - Località Cerza Grossa, 83050 Sorbo Serpico AV. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
