TASTING NOTES

Production

Podere Guardia Grande is based in Sardinia: a young winery with a desire to tell the story and tradition that characterises this region. Nascimento is a Cannonau di Sardegna made from 100% Cannonau grapes, which are selected in the vineyard and undergo fermentation and ageing in stainless steel. Energy per 100 ml: 363 kJ - 87 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it presents an intense ruby red colour, with a strong fruity bouquet of blackberries, blueberries and blackcurrants against a floral backdrop of roses, violets and juniper berries. On the palate, it is warm and enveloping, yet with a good freshness that restores balance.

Occasion and Pairing

Cannonau Nascimento is particularly well-suited to savoury cheeses such as mature Sardinian pecorino, or to meat dishes such as suckling pig on a spit.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, Nascimento should be served at a temperature of 18–20°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Podere Guardia Grande

Podere le Ripi was born in Montalcino in 1984 from a first fall in love with Francesco Illy who bought the farm from a Sardinian shepherd near Castelnuovo dell'Abate, east side of Montalcino. In 1999 he began his adventure in viticulture with the first plants and from 2011 he started a biodynamic conversion. Today the estate covers 31 hectares of vineyards divided between the two sides of Montalcinesi. All wines undergo a slow and delicate accompaniment in the cellar, where large vats and barrels of fine woods are used for both fermentation and aging and then finish with a harmonization in cement. Deep roots, vines in full dialogue with what surrounds them and the right patience during aging are the fundamental requirements to grasp those uniqueness that only mother nature can create. Name and address manufacturer/distributor: Podere Le Ripi - Via Cagliari, 11 - 00198 (RM) - Italia. The products of this cellar should be stored in a cool and dry place away from heat sources.
