TASTING NOTES

Production

R De Ruinart Brut is a Champagne made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, comprising 20 to 25% reserve wines from the two previous vintages. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and bottle ageing.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it is bright and clear, yellow in colour with golden highlights. The brilliance is remarkable, with a sustained and very persistent perlage. On the nose, it is delicate and fresh, fruity with notes of white-fleshed fruits such as pear, Renette apple, apricot, hazelnuts and fresh almonds. Some floral and spicy notes add further complexity. On the second sniff, it reveals great olfactory intensity with more pronounced notes of brioche and biscuit. The attack on the palate is very decisive. The wine is balanced, quite round and full-bodied, with aromas of ripe fruit. The finish is long; the well-integrated dosage gives way to the characteristic freshness of Chardonnay, which is very prominent in the blend.

Occasion and Pairing

A perfect Champagne for an aperitif on any occasion, which can also be served with a starter to accompany light and delicate dishes such as poached oysters, grilled scallops or sole meunière. It can also be paired with young cheeses, such as a Chaource or a very creamy Langres.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this Champagne should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.

THE WINERY

Ruinart

One family, one spirit. Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729, when Nicolas Ruinart, exploiting the intuition of his uncle, a Benedictine monk in Reims, founded the Maison which still bears his name today. Today Ruinart is part of the LVMH group and is one of the most renowned Champagne producers in the world. There are specific techniques that characterize the history of the Maison Ruinart and reveal the essential character of an exceptional experience. In the Maison Ruinart, Champagne is a product of the earth, which respects the harmony of nature and treats the fruits it offers delicately. The aromatic Chardonnay grape variety is the basis of all cuvées and its grapes derive mainly from the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. Blanc de Blancs is the most representative wine for the Maison, which first appeared in 1959. All Ruinart Champagnes ripen in crayères, i.e. chalk quarries located 38 meters deep at constant temperature and humidity, today considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dom Ruinart represents the oldest Champagne produced in history, aimed at acting as the progenitor of a legendary tradition.
