TASTING NOTES

Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729 and today forms part of the LVMH group, one of the most renowned Champagne producers in the world. Maison Ruinart stands out thanks to its essential, natural character. R De Ruinart Brut is a Champagne made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, including 20 to 25% reserve wines from the previous two vintages. The harvest is picked by hand, followed by alcoholic fermentation in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and bottle ageing. In the glass, it is a bright clear yellow with golden reflections. The brightness is striking with a sustained and persistent perlage. Fresh and fine on the nose with notes of white-fleshed fruits such as pear, rennet apple, apricot, hazelnut and fresh almonds. Some floral and spicy notes give it further complexity. The second nose reveals a great olfactory intensity with more prominent brioche and biscuit notes. The attack on the palate is very strong. The wine is balanced, quite rounded and pulpy, with ripe fruit aromas. The long finish and well-integrated dosage gives way to the characteristic freshness of Chardonnay, which is very prominent in the blend. A Champagne that’s perfect with any aperitif, it can also be served with an appetiser, accompanying light, delicate dishes such as oysters, scallop a la plancha or sole meunière. It can also be paired with soft cheeses such as a creamy a Chaource or Langres. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Ruinart

One family, one spirit. Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729, when Nicolas Ruinart, taking advantage of his uncle’s institution, a Benedictine monk in Reims, founded the house that still bears his name today. Today, Ruinart is part of the LVMH group and is one of the most renowned producers of Champagne in the world. There are specific techniques that characterise the history of Maison Ruinart and reveal the essential character of an exceptional experience. At Maison Ruinart, Champagne is a product of the earth, respecting the harmony of nature and treating the fruits it offers with delicacy. The aromatic Chardonnay grape variety forms the basis of all the cuvées and its grapes come mainly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Blanc de Blancs is the most representative wine for the house, first appearing in 1959. All Ruinart Champagne is matured in the crayères, the chalk quarries located 38 metres underground at a constant temperature and humidity, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dom Ruinart represents the oldest Champagne produced in history, the forefather of a legendary tradition. Name and address of producer/distributor: Ruinart - 4, rue des Crayères, 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
