Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729, when Nicolas Ruinart, exploiting the intuition of his uncle, a Benedictine monk in Reims, founded the Maison which still bears his name today. Today Ruinart is part of the LVMH group and is one of the most renowned Champagne producers in the world. Blanc de Blancs is the most representative wine for the Maison, which first appeared in 1959. All Ruinart Champagnes ripen in crayères, i.e. chalk quarries located 38 meters deep at constant temperature and humidity, today considered a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
