TASTING NOTES

The Ferrucci winery was founded in 1932, extending for 15 hectares in the hills of one of the most blessed wine zones of Romagna. Right from the start, Ferrucci decided to make wine entirely from its own grape production, aiming to ensure constant quality and to optimally express the typical characteristics of the land. SANGIOVESE DI ROMAGNA RISERVA DOMUS CAIA is produced from an extremely carefully selection of Sangiovese grapes. The Sangiovese grapes are dried naturally, destemmed, and left to ferment at a controlled temperature in the presence of selected yeasts, with prolonged maceration on the pomace in vitrified cement tanks. Next, the wine spends 12 months in 500-litre barrels and then undergoes réassemblage before 18 months of bottle ageing. Its colour is splendid: a deep, almost impenetrable ruby red. It has thick, intense aromas of black truffle, marasca cherry, stewed plum, and dried rose. In the mouth it is dry, velvety, and harmonious. This is a decidedly powerful yet elegant wine that epitomises an extremely interesting land which is, perhaps, as yet unknown to many. THE WINERY

Ferrucci

Ferrucci, a farm producing Romagna wines, is located in the areas of Serra in Castelbolognese, on the Romagna hills, among the happiest from an oenological point of view. Thanks to the care and passion of the family that founded it, the company has been able to express all the potential of the area, vinifying exclusively internally produced grapes and with continuous investments in research, especially in recent years. With about 15 hectares of vines in hilly areas, the processing and production of red wines is especially directed towards the pursuit of absolute quality. In fact, pruning aims to obtain grapes and bunches in limited quantities. The selection aims to achieve the goal of having a wine produced using only the best of the raw material. Furthermore, the experimentation of recent years has led to specific cloning choices and techniques of increasingly refined quality of the grapes produced. Finally, the excellence of the red wines from Romagna produced here derives from human expertise. Inside a winery of Roman origin, which supplies the typical scents that spring from these environments, man directly puts his hand to production and, with the help of modern technologies and equipment, is able to follow every step of the production cycle. It is only in this way that Ferrucci manages to produce DOC excellences such as Romagna Sangiovese, Trebbiano, Albana and Malvasia.
