The Langhe Bianco Gaja & Rey di Gaja originates in the vineyards located in the municipality of Barbaresco, planted with Chardonnay and grown on calcareous-clayey soils that lend finesse and elegance. He is one of the great Italian whites of Burgundian inspiration. Harvesting is manual, with careful selection of bunches. Winemaking involves fermentation and aging in oak barriques, some of which are new, with prolonged contact on the yeasts that creates complexity, structure, and the ability to evolve over time. Further bottle aging completes the balance of the wine.
It appears to be a deep straw yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose it is broad and refined, with scents of yellow-fleshed fruit, ripe apple and peach, accompanied by notes of citrus, white flowers, vanilla, hazelnut and light mineral nuances. On the palate it is rich and enveloping, with an important structure supported by fresh acidity and great gustatory precision. The finish is long, elegant and persistent, with fruity and mineral returns.
White wine of great prestige and longevity, ideal for important occasions and for high-level tastings. It pairs beautifully with structured fish dishes, noble shellfish, refined white meats, complex risottos and medium-aged cheeses.
To best enhance its complexity and elegance, a service temperature of 10/12°C is recommended.
