The Alto Adige Gewürztraminer “Lunare” from the Terlano winery is made from carefully selected grapes grown in vineyards situated between 350 and 500 metres above sea level, in the heart of the classic Terlano area. The soils, rich in quartz porphyry, give the wine its characteristic mineral character and extraordinary aromatic complexity. Harvesting is strictly manual, with the grapes picked at the peak of aromatic ripeness. After destemming, the skins are left briefly in contact with the must to encourage the extraction of the most intense and characteristic aromas of the grape variety. Fermentation takes place slowly in wooden barrels, with natural temperature control, followed by a period of ageing on the fine lees for around 10 months, which enriches the wine with structure and depth. Only after careful blending and a further period of rest in the bottle is ‘Lunare’ released, ready to reveal its elegant and seductive character. E=100 ml: 365 kJ / 88 kcal
In the glass, it presents an intense, brilliant golden-yellow colour. The nose is a riot of aromas: rose petals, lychee, tropical fruit, candied citrus and sweet spices alternate with finesse and great intensity. With aeration, notes of honey, ginger and a slight mineral touch emerge, enhancing its complexity. On the palate, ‘Lunare’ stands out for its richness and creaminess, perfectly balanced by a lively freshness and a delicate savouriness. It is a wine of great structure, harmonious and persistent, with a long, aromatic finish that evokes notes of exotic fruit and spices. Its enveloping elegance and velvety texture make it one of the most refined expressions of South Tyrolean Gewürztraminer.
Perfect for accompanying spicy Asian dishes, such as fish curry or coconut chicken, but also excellent with blue cheeses, foie gras, shellfish and seafood risottos. Ideal as a meditation wine, to be enjoyed in large glasses that enhance its complex aromas.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.
