THE WINERYSt Pauls
Thirty-six farmers, united by a passion for wine and a love of their land, founded the St Pauls Winery in 1907 in the village of the same name in St Pauls, in the province of Bolzano. That group of friends has now grown to 200 winegrowing families who devote body and soul to the production of excellent South Tyrolean wines.
St. Paul's vineyards have their origin on glacial soil at different altitudes-between 300 and 700 meters above sea level-embraced by the Alps. This particular location allows not only for different soil compositions, which can give peculiar characteristics to the grapes, but also for constant ventilation and climatic changes that promote excellent maturation.
Therein lies the secret to the refinement of St Pauls wineries' wines: they encapsulate the unique notes of their terroir, resulting in reds and whites that are complex yet perfectly balanced between aromaticity, minerality and elegance. The Gewürztraminer is certainly a flagship of the production, made from selected grapes that give it fruit-rich and spicy notes.
