TASTING NOTES

Agricola Vinica was born in 2007 out of shared ideals, a wish to enhance the value of the territory, and a respect for nature. The aim was to develop an ecologically sustainable organic farming project in the high hills of Molise. As well as vines, the farm grows olives, fruit, and vegetables on a total of 220 hectares. The vineyards cover around 30 hectares at an altitude of between 550 and 750 metres above sea level. Thanks to the meticulousness with which work has been conducted here over the last 10 years and despite the 100 hectares of forest already present at the farm, it has been possible to improve the company’s carbon offset by continuing to plant woods, orchards, and hazelnut groves on an additional 20 hectares of land. At Agricola Vinca, the entry and introduction of external agents that could change the characteristics of the wine is prohibited. It is considered that a wine is the fruit of the land where it is produced, an attempt to express the qualities of that land. The grape variety used to create this wine has ancient origins shown only recently, thanks to research on genetic biodiversity conducted by the University of Molise, to be unique to the Tintilia vine, which is present only in this very region. This red wine from the Molise region is produced from Tintilia del Molise vineyards at an altitude of around 600 metres above sea level in clay-rich/chalky soil. Tintilia del Molise wine is a deep ruby red in colour, with notes of undergrowth and spices escaping on the nose. On the palate, it is warm with soft tannins and hints of red berry fruits. The wine is aged for three years in stainless steel and then in the bottle. It is an extremely versatile wine for everyday use. Try it with a generous platter of cured meats!

Among the hills of Molise, in the areas north of Campobasso, lies the VINICA winery. At an altitude between 550 and 750 metres above sea level, the company is committed to sustainability and respect for the environment and local biodiversity. In fact, only organic farming methods and totally environmentally friendly methods are used here. The territory of the Molise Apennines offers an excellent basis for the cultivation of top-quality grapes. The approximately 30 hectares under vine, which become 220 if added to those of olive groves, fruit orchards and horticulture, have ideal sun exposure and a perfect temperature range, guaranteed by the alternation of night and day in almost mountainous areas. In addition, soils of a calcareous, clayey and arenaceous nature contribute to ideal maturation. Hand-harvesting processes eventually lead to the production of fine wines such as the reds Merlot, Pinot Noir, Aglianico and to a small extent also Sangiovese. The white wines offered here are Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling, while the sweet wines are raisin wines such as Muscat. In addition, most of the hectares of vineyards offer the indigenous Tintilla del Molise grape, from which unparalleled reds and rosés are produced.
