TASTING NOTES

Production

The history of Tasca d’Almerita in Sicily is written in the land it has nurtured and passed down for eight generations. The entire range of wines produced by Tasca d’Almerita consistently achieves the highest quality, combining refinement, terroir and typically Sicilian character. Malvasia Capofaro is made from 100% Malvasia; on this fantastic estate, the vines are trained with a dense canopy to prevent the sun from scorching the grapes and to preserve their aromatic qualities. The harvest is carried out by hand by expert winegrowers, who remove any bunches that are damaged or not perfectly ripe. After harvesting, the grapes are left to dry on racks, then pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for almost a month. Before bottling, it is left to mature in stainless steel tanks for six months. E=467 kJ/100 ml - 111 kcal/100 ml

Organoleptic Characteristics

It has an intense yellow colour with golden highlights; on the nose, it is an explosion of aromatic scents, ranging from yellow fruits such as apricot, dried grapes and candied fruit, to floral notes of lily of the valley and hints of sweet spices. On the palate, the sweetness is well balanced by a distinct freshness and savouriness; it is persistent with a citrusy finish.

Occasion and Pairing

It is perfect for after dinner and pairs well with desserts such as shortcrust pastries and custards.

THE WINERY

Tasca d'Almerita

The history of the Tasca d'Almerita winery has its roots in the 19th century, when brothers Lucio and Carmelo Mastrogiovanni Tasca purchased 1,200 hectares in the Regaleali district in Sicily. Even then, techniques considered cutting-edge not only in the Sicilian wine scene but throughout Italy were being used. The immense winemaking heritage, handed down for eight generations, is now under the leadership of Alberto and Giuseppe Tasca, who carry on the winery always respecting tradition but with an eye to the future. Each of the five estates belonging to the Tasca d'Almerita estate is managed with extreme care and rigor, thanks to the support of a conspicuous team of collaborators. What makes Tasca d'Almerita's wines so special is the vast spread of its vineyards between the island of Salina, land of Mavasia, across to the slopes of Mount Etna. These are some of the most beautiful places in Sicily, and also the most dedicated to wine production. Terroirs with different characteristics ensure that each of the different labels of red and white have distinctive notes, which are recognised and appreciated worldwide. Name and address of producer/distributor: Tasca d'Almerita - Via dei Fiori, 13, 90129 Palermo (PA). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
