TASTING NOTES

Production

Produced from 100% Primitivo grapes, from vines as old as 80 years, this is a Apulian red wine of extraordinary intensity and complexity, capable of showcasing the full potential of its varietal. Following hand-harvesting and fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in French oak barrels, before spending six months in the bottle without any filtration.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The result is an excellent Primitivo, presenting a concentrated and dense ruby red colour, which on the nose reveals notes of blackberries and plum jam, with hints of bitter cocoa and myrtle leaves. The palate is enveloping and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a moderate, balsamic alcohol content capable of extending a fresh and spicy finish to infinity.

Occasion and Pairing

To enjoy Barbatto Primitivo at its best, we recommend serving it on special occasions, such as a Sunday lunch, paired with mature cheeses and flavourful red meats, or after dinner as a meditation wine, enjoyed with a cigar or dark chocolate.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 14–16°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Chiaromonte

The history of the Chiaromonte winery is closely linked to that of Terre d'Acquaviva, upholding a never-ending passion for the land and the ancient art of wine-growing. The company's aim is to continue producing high quality Apulian wines based on commitment, study and innovation. A unique and harmonious fusion of tradition and modernity makes the Primitivo produced here a highlight in Italian wine production. The care and commitment put into the work result in a limited, almost exclusive production. There are various reasons for this: the most important, without doubt, is to always maintain high quality standards, to produce a skilfully crafted wine that guarantees an excellent taste. In recent years, the Primitivo has also been joined by the monovarietal vinification of another native grape variety of ancient origins, Fiano Minutolo. An innovative and surprising production that will leave everyone speechless. Name and address of producer/distributor: Chiaromonte - Contrada Scappagrano 70021 Acquaviva delle Fonti BA. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
