TASTING NOTES

Cantina Contratto was the first Italian winery to make a vintage version of a Classic Method in the area of Asti, in Canelli in Piedmont, thanks to the intuition of Giorgio Rivetti. The underground cellars have been dug into the limestone tuff up to a depth of 32 meters, with a constant and natural temperature, ensuring the perfect environment for bottle fermentation and slow maturation of wines obtained following the Classic Method. Not only great reds: now even the bubbles of Alta Langa bring Piedmont to the top of world enology. De Miranda Asti Spumante is a 100% Moscato wine cultivated in Canelli in the vineyards of about 50 years of the company. It undergoes a first fermentation of 3 months in autoclave, after 24 months on the lees in steel tanks and then aged for at least another 2 years. The resulting sparkling wine, with a brilliant straw yellow color, is a riot of scents: from the scent of fresh Moscato to honey, from pear to apricot. But from the first sip it expresses a minerality and acidity that make it fresh, elegant, complex and unique. Ideal in combination with desserts even the most complex processing, but could surprise if paired with goats or aged cheeses. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 10/12 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Contratto

A profound care for the territory and local traditions, an ancient history and constant production, always attentive to new technologies. The Contratto winery is a guarantee when you are looking for exceptional Piedmontese wines. Giuseppe Contratto founded his winery in 1867, when he began making wine from Moscato grapes from the Monferrato area, producing one of the first Italian sparkling wines refermented in the bottle. Also in those years the Contratto family began the construction of the historic cellar, which was then completed in the twentieth century. It was around 1910 that Contratto wines began to conquer foreign markets, becoming synonymous with prestige and quality in the world of sparkling wines, so much so that the company became the official supplier of the Vatican, the Belgian royal house and the royal family of Savoy. At the basis of the philosophy of the Rivetti family, there is the urgency of looking forward without ever losing contact with one's roots. The objective that Contratto sets itself is to tell through a glass of Alta Langa the great potential of the Piedmontese hills in terms of the Classic Method, taking care of the vineyards every day in order to bring exceptional grapes to the cellar. Discover the complete selection of Contratto on Signorvino wines and let yourself be won over by the authentic taste of Piedmont. Explore all Piedmontese wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Contratto - Via Giovanni Battista Giuliani, 54 - 14053 Canelli (AT). The products from this cellar should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
