TASTING NOTES

Talking about the Oddero family is similar to taking a journey through time and the history of the Langhe. Present in La Morra since at least the eighteenth century, through documentary sources the winery has managed to go back to the second decade of the 19th century, demonstrating that the ancestors Giovanni Battista Oddero and his sons Lorenzo and Luigi already produced wine in that municipality. The first acknowledgments for this winery date back to the early twentieth century when their Barolo took part in a wine tasting at the International Exhibition in Turin. Throughout the last century the family not only successfully obtained prestigious awards but also managed to raise the bar of quality up to today’s products, obtained from grapes from the best crus of the area. In 2011, the turning point came with the organic conversion of the vineyard, aimed at preserving what then became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2014. They currently own around 35 hectares of property and production stands at about 100,000 bottles a year. Langhe Collaretto is a Piedmontese white from Oddero made from 100% Riesling grapes. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks and ages on its lees for 6 months. Straw yellow with golden reflections, on the nose it expresses excellent citrus and mineral notes. On the palate, it is ripe, full and fruity. A wine for every day, we recommend uncorking it to accompany a meal based on fish or shellfish. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Oddero

The Orsogna winery, founded in 1972, is one of the most important wineries in the production of Abruzzo wines. About 15 years ago, a separate winery was created with the Lunaria project with the aim of producing biodynamic wines that would best enhance the territory of the Chieti hills, within the Maiella Park. Spontaneous fermentation, special care for indigenous varieties and minimal intervention in the vineyard and wine cellar make the Lunaria project the largest Demeter project in Europe. The Orsogna vineyards extend over the territory of the municipality of the same name and some neighbouring villages. Here, traditional vines, such as Montepulciano and Trebbiano, lie beside indigenous specimens, including pecorino, primitivo, but also pinot grigio, from which an excellent spumante is made. The intense passion dedicated to working the land is transmitted in every grape, an expression of a production system that respects and emphasises the importance of the environment. At Cantina Orsogna, sulphites are used to a limited extent, calibrated according to the wine to be produced: lower for the Lunaria line, totally absent for the ZeroPuro line. Cantina Orsogna's wines, mostly red, are distinguished by their enviable character and precision and are loved by both the most refined and the simplest palates. Name and address of producer/distributor: Orsogna - Via Ortonese, 29, 66036 Orsogna (CH). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
