TASTING NOTES

Contadi Castaldi was founded in 1987, at the height of the Franciacorta boom, by Mariella and Vittorio Moretti. Contadi Castaldi managed to make a name for itself and be appreciated within a short time, thanks to the charisma and modern style of its sparkling wines, which are very drinkable and adaptable to all occasions. Contadi Castaldi's Franciacorta Brut is a sparkling wine with a pleasant and direct character, the strength of which lies in its refined and never commonplace simplicity. This metodo classico cuvée stars Chardonnay (80%) in a perfect blend with Pinot Noir (10%) and Pinot Blanc (10%). The choice of these base wines, aged both in stainless steel and barriques, also guarantees freshness and balance. In the glass, Brut Contadi Castaldi has a straw yellow colour, illuminated by a fine and persistent perlage. On the nose it is fragrant, with characteristic notes of bread crust and pastries, as well as citrus and floral hints, and on the palate it recirculates the fragrance from the nose together with an excellent full flavour. Ideal as an aperitif and throughout the meal, this Franciacorta pairs perfectly with finger food and raw fish.

The Conte Vistarino estate stands a short distance from the municipality of Rocca de' Giorgi in Oltrepo Pavese. Over time, the company has managed to maintain the fragile link between advanced viticulture techniques and terroir in one of the most unspoilt corners of Lombardy. The vines extend over more than 200 hectares, all registered in the Oltrepò Pavese DOC. They are mainly Pinot Noir and Riesling Renano, Pinot Grigio, Moscato, Croatina and Barbera. Each vine grows in the place best suited to it thanks to the work, care and commitment of the company. The main desire of the workers, even today, is to pursue quality through the creation of authentic and elegant wines that are the faithful expression of the terroir from which they come.
