TASTING NOTES

R De Ruinart Brut is a Champagne made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier grapes, comprising 20 to 25% of reserve wines from the previous two vintages. The harvest is done manually, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Then malolactic fermentation and aging in bottle. The glass is bright and clear with a yellow color with golden reflections. The brilliance is remarkable, perlage sustained and very persistent. The nose is fine and fresh, fruity with notes of white fruits such as pear, renetta apple, apricot, hazelnuts and fresh almonds. Some floral and spicy notes add complexity. The second nose reveals a great olfactory intensity with stronger notes of brioche and biscuit. The attack on the palate is very firm. The wine is balanced, quite round and fleshy, with aromas of ripe fruits. The finish is long, the well integrated dosage gives way to the characteristic freshness of Chardonnay, very present in the blend. A perfect Champagne for an aperitif in every circumstance, which can also be served with an appetizer to accompany light and delicate dishes such as oysters, scallops alla plancha or a sole alla mugnaia. It can also be paired with short-ripened cheeses, such as a Chaource or a very creamy Langres. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Ruinart

One family, one spirit. Maison Ruinart was founded in 1729, when Nicolas Ruinart, taking advantage of his uncle’s institution, a Benedictine monk in Reims, founded the house that still bears his name today. Today, Ruinart is part of the LVMH group and is one of the most renowned producers of Champagne in the world. There are specific techniques that characterise the history of Maison Ruinart and reveal the essential character of an exceptional experience. At Maison Ruinart, Champagne is a product of the earth, respecting the harmony of nature and treating the fruits it offers with delicacy. The aromatic Chardonnay grape variety forms the basis of all the cuvées and its grapes come mainly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. Blanc de Blancs is the most representative wine for the house, first appearing in 1959. All Ruinart Champagne is matured in the crayères, the chalk quarries located 38 metres underground at a constant temperature and humidity, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dom Ruinart represents the oldest Champagne produced in history, the forefather of a legendary tradition. Name and address of producer/distributor: Ruinart - 4, rue des Crayères, 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
