TASTING NOTES

Veuve Clicquot presents the 2018 millth de La Grande Dame, the cuvée de prestige celebrating Madame Clicquot’s vision: "Our black grapes give life to the best white wines". The 2018 vintage is deep and precise, expressing a new facet of the art of Pinot Noir. Thanks to the experience of the Chef de Caves, La Grande Dame 2018 incorporates 90% Pinot Noir with 10% Chardonnay, achieving a unique signature: elegant and precise. In 2018, the rainy winter was followed by a long hot and sunny summer: these contrasting conditions gave rise to an exceptional harvest of generous quality. This quality is reflected in the Champagne, giving it a perfect balance between freshness and aromatic complexity. At the cup La Grande Dame 2018 is presented with a bright and luminous color. This vintage expresses clear notes of lime and yuzu, accompanied by floral aromas reminiscent of honeysuckle, and reveal fruity nuances of pear, apple and white peach enriched with hints of almond and fig. On the palate, the first impression reveals a balance between finesse and vivacity, with citrusy notes and a salty finish. Spices, ginger and liquorice follow, while pastry aromas complete the cuvée. With its finesse and delicacy, La Grande Dame 2018 is perfect in combination with fresh cheeses or a celery risotto or crunchy farro. To fully appreciate the style, La Grande Dame 2018 must be served at a serving temperature of 10/12°C. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Veuve Clicquot

In 1805, the young Madame Clicquot suddenly became widowed. At only 27 years old, she took over the reins of the house founded in 1772 by her late husband. Guided by her great passion and ability for excellence, she created her first Champagne vintage in 1810. In addition to reflecting exceptional savoir-faire, the production process of Veuve Clicquot Champagne has always been very creative, based mainly on the blending of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes. One quality, the best. This is the spirit of Maison Veuve Clicquot. Today, the house owns some 390 hectares of vineyards, spread over Grand Cru and Premier Cru in Champagne and characterised by chalky soil, responsible for the mineral notes of the Champagne Clicquot cuvées. Since 2002, the house has adopted organic and sustainable viticulture, applied from vine cultivation to vinification and maturation activities. Name and address of producer/distributor: Veuve Clicquot, 12, rue du Temple, 51100 Reims - France. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
