TASTING NOTES

Production

The Barolo Scarzello is made from carefully selected, hand-harvested Nebbiolo grapes (100%) usually in the first decade of October. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the cellar, where they undergo destemming and crushing. The fermentation takes place in stainless steel containers with temperature control and a long maceration on the skins that can last up to 50 days. After fermentation, the wine is racked and aged in 600-liter oak barrels for at least 24 months. It is then bottled and undergoes an additional 24 months of maturation in the bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The Barolo Scarzello presents an intense garnet red color. On the nose, it reveals aromas of red fruits, including cherry, wild strawberry, and currant, along with hints of tobacco, varnish, and spices, evolving into balsamic notes. On the palate, it is enveloping, balanced, and full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Occasion and Pairing

It’s the perfect wine for a Sunday lunch, ideal to pair with red meats. Try it with roasted or grilled meats for an unforgettable experience.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

THE WINERY

Scarzello

Today, Giuseppe, Gemma and Federico Scarzello nurture the philosophy that has allowed the winery to grow generation after generation: to concentrate on quality rather than taste trends, and to always safeguard the elegance and freshness of the wine so as not to forget that the soul of Nebbiolo, in Barolo, has distinct tannins. On the palate, the Scarzello family wants to convey the passion of those who produced it, their love and connection to the surrounding area. The Scarzello winery, which has been family-owned for years, is located in the heart of the Langhe, a land known for its sublime and traditional wines, which are internationally recognised. The company employs traditional techniques, therefore reflecting the authenticity and wisdom of the past, yet combined with an awareness of the present. Known for its fine Piedmontese red wines, the Scarzello winery captures and expresses the surrounding terroir to the fullest, combining tradition and modernity in the production of high-quality wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Scarzello - Via Alba, 29, 12060 Barolo (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
