TASTING NOTES

Cerretta, one of Barolo's most prestigious Cru, is located on a hillside measuring a handful of hectares, where other illustrious winemakers such as Altare and Conterno grow. Having Garesio next to the Barolo Boys makes a very good impression, which has led him to gain recognition from the market and from various wine guides. Listed among the best wines of Italy in 2020 by Gambero Rosso, Cerretta uses a long maceration process on the skins. Organic Nebbiolo grapes are selected by hand, before undergoing fermentation and maceration for about a month and a half, with continuous pumping over. The last 20 days ensure total rest, using the submerged cap technique. From there, the red wine moves into large 40 hl barrels for more than two years, followed by stabilisation in bottles for an additional two years. This King of Wines displays a soft garnet colour in the bottle, edged with subtle orange veins. Extremely elegant on the nose, with hints of red berry fruit jam, on a bed of mountain herbs, violets, broken down into tertiary aromas of tobacco, liquorice and cocoa. Initially full and warm on the palate, this is soon supported by tannins and a lively full flavour, creating a very pleasant balance. A bottle to impress the table over Sunday lunch: best paired with prominent red meat dishes, such as braised roasts, game and stews. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Garesio

The wines from Piedmont are known far and wide. The Garesio winery and its products are certainly an example that well explains why. The passion that the family puts into production right from the start is a guarantee of quality and the continuous search for places to ensure the best wine production. With its 20 hectares of vineyards, the company aims for winemaking choices that can enhance the land where the grapes come from, the size of the crus and the distinctiveness of the individual grape varieties. The production of Garesio wines originates in the areas ranging from Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe cultivated with Barolo, to Incisa Scapacchio, Monferrato up to Perletto in Alta Langa. Cultivation takes place with respect for nature, with human interventions reduced to a minimum and studied in detail. The attention to the environment is also evident in the cultivation of Nebbiolo grapes, entirely certified organic, and of all the others, produced with sustainable integrated method. The quality of the wines is also ensured thanks to winemaking processes that take place with traditional methods, but with the help of the best modern technologies, which preserve the purity of the product variety. Furthermore, each harvest is maximized: the vinification is adapted according to the vintage, in order to highlight its distinctive characteristics. Name and address of producer/distributor: Garesio - Località Sordo, 1, 12050 Serralunga D'alba CN. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
