TASTING NOTES

Production

The organically grown Nebbiolo grapes are hand-selected, then left to ferment and macerate for about a month and a half, with continuous pumping over. For the final 20 days, the wine rests completely, with the cap submerged. From there, the red wine is transferred to large 40-hectolitre barrels for over two years. This is followed by stabilisation in the bottle for a further two years.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The king of wines presents itself in the bottle with a pale garnet colour, fringed with subtle orange hues. The nose is highly elegant, with hints of red fruit jam, resting on a bed of mountain herbs and violets, evolving into tertiary notes of tobacco, liquorice and cocoa. The palate is initially full-bodied and warm, soon supported by tannins and a lively savouriness, creating a very pleasant balance.

Occasion and Pairing

A bottle that will make a fine impression at a Sunday lunch, best paired with substantial red meat dishes such as roasts, braised game and stews.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Garesio

The wines from Piedmont are known far and wide. The Garesio winery and its products are certainly an example that well explains why. The passion that the family puts into production right from the start is a guarantee of quality and the continuous search for places to ensure the best wine production. With its 20 hectares of vineyards, the company aims for winemaking choices that can enhance the land where the grapes come from, the size of the crus and the distinctiveness of the individual grape varieties. The production of Garesio wines originates in the areas ranging from Serralunga d'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe cultivated with Barolo, to Incisa Scapacchio, Monferrato up to Perletto in Alta Langa. Cultivation takes place with respect for nature, with human interventions reduced to a minimum and studied in detail. The attention to the environment is also evident in the cultivation of Nebbiolo grapes, entirely certified organic, and of all the others, produced with sustainable integrated method. The quality of the wines is also ensured thanks to winemaking processes that take place with traditional methods, but with the help of the best modern technologies, which preserve the purity of the product variety. Furthermore, each harvest is maximized: the vinification is adapted according to the vintage, in order to highlight its distinctive characteristics. Name and address of producer/distributor: Garesio - Località Sordo, 1, 12050 Serralunga D'alba CN. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
