The Barbaresco di Gaja originates in the heart of the Langhe, from vineyards located in the municipality of Barbaresco, on hills characterized by calcareous-clayey soils and an ideal microclimate for Nebbiolo. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, from various selected plots, grown with great attention to quality and yields. Harvesting is manual and winemaking is done in steel, with careful macerations to extract elegance, structure and complexity. The aging takes place in oak barriques, partly new and partly second-pass, followed by a further period in the bottle that harmonizes the wine and completes its evolution.
It appears ruby red with garnet reflections. On the nose it is elegant and complex, with scents of ripe cherry, wilted rose and berries, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, tobacco, licorice and light balsamic nuances. On the palate it is structured and refined, with silky and well-integrated tannins, a vibrant freshness and a deep and balanced flavor texture. The ending is long and persistent, of great finesse and elegance.
Wine symbol of elegance and longevity, ideal for important occasions and for moments of conscious tasting. It pairs beautifully with red meats, roasts, braised meats, game, traditional Piedmontese dishes and aged cheeses.
To best appreciate its complexity and balance, a service temperature of 16/18°C is recommended.
