Gaja’s Barbaresco is born in the heart of the Langhe, from vineyards situated in the municipality of Barbaresco, on hills characterised by calcareous-clay soils and a microclimate ideal for Nebbiolo. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from various selected plots, cultivated with great attention to quality and yields. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks, with careful maceration to extract elegance, structure and complexity. Ageing occurs in oak barriques, partly new and partly second-use, followed by a further period in the bottle which harmonises the wine and completes its development.
Visually, it is ruby red in colour with garnet highlights. On the nose, it is elegant and complex, with aromas of ripe cherry, wilted rose and wild berries, accompanied by notes of sweet spices, tobacco, liquorice and light balsamic undertones. On the palate, it is structured and refined, with silky, well-integrated tannins, vibrant freshness and a deep, balanced flavour profile. The finish is long and persistent, displaying great finesse and elegance.
A wine that epitomises elegance and longevity, ideal for special occasions and for moments of mindful tasting. It pairs magnificently with red meats, roasts, braised dishes, game, traditional Piedmontese dishes and mature cheeses.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.
