Elena Walch is a leading family-run winery in Alto Adige, the flagship of Italian wine production and internationally renowned. A promoter of quality and innovation, Elena Walch has helped lead the South Tyrolean quality revolution, thus earning great local and international consideration. The estate’s superb climate and exceptional location results in crisp and fruity white wines, and concentrated and smooth red wines. Vigna Kastelaz is an extraordinary steep vineyard overlooking the village of Tramin, with one of the region’s most exclusive southern exposures, and arranged on narrow terraces of limestone soil. The winery produces a unique Gewürztraminer, harvested over an extended period of time so that the bunches are fully ripe across the different row heights. The must remains in contact with the skins for about 6 hours before being pressed gently, followed by fermentation and long ageing on the lees. Golden yellow in colour, with a unique complex aroma: hints of ripe fruit, notes of rose and lychee, and an elegant finish of acacia honey. Elegant, fresh, mineral and slightly spicy on the palate. Great character. Perfect for every day, it goes well with fish, shellfish, molluscs and East Asian dishes.
