The history of the Arunda winery starts with Josef Reiterer in 1979 with 10,000 bottles of sparkling wine in Alto Adige, making it the only winery in that area producing sparkling wine. Although he was more inclined to build a distillery at first, he had to give in to his wife's wishes. He jokes: "You know, women prefer pearls: and perlage it was!" The winery is located in Meltina at an elevation of 1,200 metres, still one of Trentino’s most stunning wine areas. To this day, Arunda still stands for excellence and territoriality on the Alto Adige scene. Alto Adige Extra Brut Cuvée Marianna is a Trentino sparkling wine made from 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir. Vinification is carried out in barriques, before resting on the lees for 48 to 54 months, then once disgorged, this is followed by a long rest in the bottle. Golden yellow in colour with a very fine and persistent perlage, a broad and complex bouquet on the nose ranging from fruity, citrus and vanilla notes. Dry, persistent and mineral on the palate. Cuvée Marianna rightfully enters the ranks of the great Italian Metodo Classico. Perfect to enjoy as an aperitif, it pairs well with freshwater fish and shellfish.
