TASTING NOTES

Hofstätter's De Vite is a white wine that best expresses the freshness and subtle aromatic nature of the white wines of Alto Adige. It is made from a blend of four grape varieties (Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Muller Thürgau) that have strong roots in the terroir, where they are best able to express their individualities: finesse, freshness and elegance. The vineyards stand on light marly soils that have the advantage of warming up very quickly during the summer daylight hours, ensuring the necessary day/night temperature range for the grapes to acquire an adequate aromatic bouquet, which we then find in the glass. The four grapes are vinified separately, with soft pressing and gravitational drop into fermentation vats. Once fermentation is complete, they are again matured separately in stainless steel for two months, after which they are blended and then subjected to a further three months of ageing in stainless steel. Before release, two months of stabilisation in the bottle take place. The wine is candid and lively in its straw-yellow tone as well as in the notes of fresh apple and lemon peel that characterise its nose. All of this is confirmed in the mouth, where the full flavour plays in balance with the acidity, on a fruity/floral substrate of excellent balance. A wine you can drink every day, perhaps to accompany fish and shellfish starters or white meat dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Hofstatter

The Hofstatter Winery is a historical symbol of Alto Adige, guarded by the imposing walls of a 16th century building in the province of Bolzano. The Hofstatter vineyards stretch across the eastern and western sides of the Etschtal, finding a home on soils with different characteristics and microclimates. It was precisely because of this peculiarity that in 1987, for the first time in this region, they were able to introduce the designation “Vigna” for seven of their wines. Heir to an ancient family of winegrowers, Martin Foradori continues to pursue Hofstatter's core objective to this day: to harmonise the centuries-old, unique tradition of their land with an eye for innovation. In fact, the immense heritage of the Hofstatter estate has not precluded the use of modern technology to create a state-of-the-art winery, where new, low-energy concrete barrels are housed. The exceptional finesse of Hofstatter wines confirms that this goal is achieved year after year, yielding sublime examples of both whites, such as the renowned Gewürztraminer, and reds, such as Pinot Noir, that are recognised even beyond Italian borders. Name and address of producer/distributor: Hofstatter - Rathausplatz 7 - 39040 Tramin BZ. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
