Protagonists in the history of Fumane and Valpolicella Classica, the Allegrini family has always been committed to preserving their local culture and traditions. Thanks to important viticulture and wine-making innovations, year after year and bottle after bottle, Allegrini manages to preserve tradition and produce unique and prestigious wines from grapes grown exclusively on the family’s 150 hectares of vineyards. The innovative Allegrini spirit comes to life in the La Grola red made from Corvina and a small percentage of Oseleta grapes, from a charming hill in the Valpolicella Classica area. It is a fragrant red of great elegance and great personality, produced without the traditional drying techniques, which demonstrates the enormous potential of this land and of quality viticulture. The wine ferments in stainless steel, and then ages in barriques for 16 months, in Slavonian barrels for a further two months and finally in the bottle for 10 months. In the glass, the wine reveals a beautiful ruby red colour, with complex and characterful aromas that features notes first of red berry fruit, currants and blackberries, and then hints of spices, with a hint of toastiness that comes from maturing in wood. In the mouth it is rich and enveloping, with good freshness and a length that evokes the fruit notes. Excellent with stewed meat dishes or to accompany roasts with tomato sauce.
