TASTING NOTES

Production

Cantina Contratto was the first Italian winery to produce a vintage Metodo Classico sparkling wine in the Oltrepò Pavese area, thanks to the vision of Giorgio Rivetti. The underground cellars were dug into the calcareous tuff to a depth of 32 metres, maintaining a constant, natural temperature, ensuring the perfect environment for bottle fermentation and the slow maturation of wines produced using the Metodo Classico. Organoleptic Characteristics

It’s not just great reds: now the sparkling wines of Alta Langa are also taking Piedmont to the very top of the global wine world. Contratto White Vermouth is an aromatised wine made from: white wine, sugar, alcohol, water and extracts of 50 different flowers and aromatic herbs. Made according to the original recipe from the early 1900s, based on a blend of white wines enriched with Italian brandy and over 50 top-quality herbs, including spices, roots and seeds. This process is used once again to create a sophisticated elixir with a unique flavour and a very elegant bouquet.

THE WINERY

Contratto

A profound care for the territory and local traditions, an ancient history and constant production, always attentive to new technologies. The Contratto winery is a guarantee when you are looking for exceptional Piedmontese wines. Giuseppe Contratto founded his winery in 1867, when he began making wine from Moscato grapes from the Monferrato area, producing one of the first Italian sparkling wines refermented in the bottle. Also in those years the Contratto family began the construction of the historic cellar, which was then completed in the twentieth century. It was around 1910 that Contratto wines began to conquer foreign markets, becoming synonymous with prestige and quality in the world of sparkling wines, so much so that the company became the official supplier of the Vatican, the Belgian royal house and the royal family of Savoy. At the basis of the philosophy of the Rivetti family, there is the urgency of looking forward without ever losing contact with one's roots. The objective that Contratto sets itself is to tell through a glass of Alta Langa the great potential of the Piedmontese hills in terms of the Classic Method, taking care of the vineyards every day in order to bring exceptional grapes to the cellar. Name and address of producer/distributor: Contratto - Via Giovanni Battista Giuliani, 54 - 14053 Canelli (AT). The products from this cellar should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
