TASTING NOTES

Production

Akenta Extra Dry Spumante is made from a selection of Vermentino di Sardegna DOC grapes, expertly hand-harvested and vinified in autoclaves using the Charmat method. This is followed by ageing on the lees for 6 months, enhancing the fragrant aromas and allowing the formation of a fine, persistent perlage. 100 ml: E=326 kJ/78 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, Akenta presents a pale, brilliant straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights. The bouquet is intense, with white and yellow flowers and fruity notes, which combine perfectly with a subtle hint of bread crust.

Occasion and Pairing

On the palate, it is full-bodied, fresh, smooth and pleasantly savoury. Akenta Sparkling Wine is excellent as an aperitif and ideal for accompanying all fish, seafood and shellfish dishes.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 10–12°C.

THE WINERY

Santa Maria La Palma

In Pedemonte, in the heart of the Veneto region and in one of the best-known areas for the production of quality wines, stands the Santa Sofia winery, inside an ancient aristocratic villa designed and built by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio. Since the 1960s, the winery has been in the hands of the Begnoni family, which has also owned it since then. With its 53 hectares of mainly stony land, the winery, under the leadership of the family, has always had the goal of expanding its distribution both nationally and internationally. Initially intending to offer all typical Veronese productions, the company has focused on specific products and selected crops over time, the products of which are harvested in the vineyard with extreme care at every single step. Today Santa Sofia produces and distributes very structured and elegant red wines, including Valpolicella Superiore Montegradella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Bardolino, Amarone, Arlèo, Merlot Corvina and Predaia. However, there is no shortage of fresh, young whites, such as Custoza, Lugana, Pinot Grigio and Soave. Name and address of producer/distributor: Santa Sofia - Via Cà Dedè, 61, 37029 Pedemonte (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
