The Gorgona project was born in August 2012 in collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only prison island in Europe. In this place the prisoners spend their last sentence, working in contact with nature. Around a small vineyard, in the heart of an amphitheater overlooking the sea, begins the project whose goal is to allow prisoners to have a concrete and active experience in the field of viticulture, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi agronomists and oenologists. Gorgona Rosso sees the light with the 2015 harvest, from some rows of Sangiovese and Vermentino Nero, grown in organic and aged in terracotta jars. The label of Gorgona Rosso is dedicated to hope and the desire for rehabilitation: with the hope that the important experiences of viticulture acquired by prisoners, can help them write a new page when they return to society. Gorgona is presented to the glass with an intense ruby red color and garnet reflections. The bouquet is varied and complex with hints of red berries, notes of juniper, Mediterranean herbs and sweet spices. The palate is savory, with lively tannins and a harmonious balance. Perfect with roasts of red meat or grilled mixed. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC.
