TASTING NOTES

Tenuta Calimaia lies on soft hills between the Val di Chiana and the Val d'Orcia. The vineyards arranged around the hill of the company, enjoy an altitude of 300 meters s.l.m. and are diversified by exposure and soil type, allowing you to enhance each vine cultivated. Nobile di Montepulciano consists of a blend of 90% Prugnolo Gentile grapes and 10% of complementary red grape varieties. Once harvested by hand, the grapes are vinified in steel and fermentation is conducted spontaneously. The maceration on the skins has favored a greater extraction of polyphenolic substances, with frequent pumping over and a malolactic steel. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for 24 months and ages in bottle for the next 4 months. Tenuta Calimaia Vino Nobile di Montepulciano has an intense ruby red color. The nose offers evident notes of red fruits: cherry and sour cherry at the beginning, followed by intense notes of aromatic herbs and spices, including sage, cardamom and pink pepper. On the nose the dark chocolate is accompanied by hints of licorice. In the mouth begins with its generous body, voluminous and fresh at the same time. The tannic texture is dense and free of harshness. The taste-olfactory correspondence is remarkable and the intense aromatic persistence is very long. Perfect with red meat roasts or mixed grills. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC. Read more Read less
