TASTING NOTES

Zamichele is a winery established in 2000 and covers 11 hectares between Sirmione, Peschiera and Pozzolengo. The winery is led by the two Zamichele cousins and their wives, their family has been involved in the agricultural sector for over a hundred years. Their motto is "unconditional respect for nature" in fact they do not use herbicides or drying agents to ensure that the vineyards are also a hospitable environment for the local fauna. Birds nest among the vines and a great diversity of animals can be encountered as you walk through the vineyards including hares, hedgehogs and pheasants. We are located in the Lugana region, the pride of the Lombard white wine even if it flows for a few hectares into the Veneto region. Here the climate is particularly suitable for vines thanks to the immense effect of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, which manages to temper the summer heat by taking away a little humidity and mitigating the extremely harsh cold during the winter. For this reason, you can also admire lemon trees, olive groves and palm trees. The calcareous soil of the morainic hills then does the rest where the vine has found a favourable place to grow. Lugana Gardè is a wine produced entirely with Turbiana grapes. Harvesting by hand, selection of the bunches in the winery and then proceeding with the crushing and soft pressing. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks and then in large wooden barrels where it rests on its lees. Straw yellow in colour. In the mouth, intense aromas of ripe exotic fruit, white peach and citrus fruits. In the mouth, it leaves a creamy and enveloping sensation that balances well with the acidity, the fruit is juicier and on the finish, there are hints of dried fruit. A Lombard white wine to drink every day with white meats such as veal, chicken and pork and to accompany richer and more flavoursome fish dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Zamichele

In the beautiful area of Lake Garda, between the municipalities of Sirmione, Peschiera del Garda and Pozzolengo, straddling Lombardy and Veneto, lies the Zamichele winery. With over a century of history behind it, the company is located in the heart of the Lugana production area and its labels offer an innovative and authentic interpretation of it. With its 6 hectares of vines, the production of the wines offered at the winery is controlled at every stage. It consists of the enormous respect for the land shown during the trials and witnessed by the presence of ladybirds, snails and birds with their nests in the rows. This is in fact due to the non-use of desiccants or herbicides. In addition, the hilly terrain on which the estate stands offers characteristics that are partially clayey in the coastal areas and partially gravelly and draining due to the remains of the glacier that formed the valley. All of this, together with a very favourable, almost Mediterranean, breezy and sunny climate, has always favoured the production of extraordinary Lombardy white wines and Venetian wines, but also red Lombardy wines of superlative quality such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Finally, to intensify its efforts towards sustainability, Zamichele introduced a photovoltaic system that allows it to produce its own electricity from clean, renewable sources. Name and address of producer/distributor: Zamichele - Loc. località Roveglia, Palazzina,2, 25010 Pozzolengo (BS). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
