TASTING NOTES

Enrico Gatti has been writing pages of Franciacorta history for almost half a century. Always keeping a keen eye on production sustainability: Gatti fertilises (only organic) his 17 hectares with a dropper, does not do any weeding, and treatments in the vineyard are only carried out in extreme cases. The soils of moraine origin give the sparkling wine bases that minerality that we will then find in the glass. Its Satèn is also produced with this in mind: refreshing and dosed to the millimetre, yet with its persuasive and characteristic silkiness. In accordance with the regulations, Blanc de Blancs, Gatti's Satèn is a monovarietal Chardonnay from vineyards located in a hilly area. 50% of the fermentation is in small French oak barrels, where it matures on the lees for six months, and the remaining 50% in stainless steel vats. After bottling, the wine stays on the lees for at least 32 months. The result is a perfect, velvety sparkling wine. Creamy on the nose as well as on the palate, with fresh hints of almond and a gentle buttery undertone. On the palate it is vibrant, juicy, dense, seasoned with a minerality that lingers in a pleasant length. A high-end, which can be dedicated to an aperitif with friends, but also make a splendid impression at lunch or dinner, accompanying fish and shellfish based dishes. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Gatti Enrico

In the panorama of Lombard wineries, the Enrico Gatti winery stands out for its history of passion and ambition. The activity of this small family-run business began in 1972, when Enrico Gatti gave up his job in the construction industry to devote himself to his first endeavour on rented land. Over the years, Enrico's holdings have expanded, now numbering 22 hectares of vineyards, whose roots find nourishment in deep, morainic soil. The altitude at which the vines are exposed, between 180 and 280 metres above sea level, and the average age of the vineyards, guarantee the production of a Franciacorta that is distinguished by finesse and elegance. The management of the Enrico Gatti winery, which has been increasingly modernised and improved over the years, has fallen into the hands of his children Paola and Lorenzo Gatti. Like their father, they pay careful attention to the ripening of the grapes, from which they make sparkling wines that encapsulate the very essence of Franciacorta and are appreciated throughout Italy. Name and address of producer/distributor: Gatti Enrico - Via Metelli 9 – 25030 Erbusco BS. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
