The Castello Bonomi estate is located in the south of Franciacorta, on the slopes of Monte Orfano, in a unique natural and territorial context, dominated by the magnificent Art Nouveau building that gives its name to the company, with historic cellars that have been restored and integrated into new spaces by the Paladin family since 2008. The southern exposure of the vines, sheltered from the Alpine winds, together with the chalky limestone conglomerate that characterises the subsoil of Monte Orfano, create ideal conditions for top-quality wine growing. The favourable temperature fluctuations and optimal harvest management mean that the grapes ripen perfectly, guaranteeing the ideal balance between acidity and sugars. Castello Bonomi's Franciacorta Dosaggio Zero is the result of a careful blending of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the same vintage, in equal proportions. After eight months of fermentation in stainless steel, the Pinot Noir is blended with the Chardonnay, which has rested in oak barrels, and then after a second fermentation, it is left to age in the bottle for more than 80 months. Long ageing and the absence of added sugar make this wine a splendid expression of Franciacorta and more particularly of its terroir of origin: Monte Orfano. In the glass, Castello Bonomi's Dosage Zero is straw yellow in colour, with a brilliant and intense perlage. On the nose it has fresh notes of white flowers and citrus fruits, against a background of vanilla and small pastries. On the palate it is straight, fresh and very elegant. Ideal for a romantic dinner, as a pairing with crudités of fish or shellfish or with a seafood risotto. Read more Read less

Castello Bonomi

The Castello Bonomi estate, owned by the Paladin family, covers an area of 24 hectares in Franciacorta. The vineyards are enclosed in the marvellous natural amphitheatre of Monte Orfano, and stretch out up to 275 metres above sea level with south, south-east, south-west exposure, in the municipality of Coccaglio. Situated on hilly terrain, the vineyards enjoy a particular microclimate with cool temperate influences that gives the area specific and unique characteristics that allow the grapes to ripen in the optimum manner. The chosen cultivation system and planting layout ensure low production and high quality of the grapes, which come from French rooted vines. Harvesting is conducted entirely by hand, and the yield per hectare is deliberately low: every little detail exemplifies the high quality of each grape. Castello Bonomi owes its name to an Art Nouveau building dating back to the late 19th century: it is the only Chateau in Franciacorta, and now the headquarters of the winery, surrounded by the splendid setting of a terraced garden. The Lombardy winery's range of sparkling wines stand out for their elegance, complex character and mineral flavour, resulting from the magic of the place and the dedication of the winemaking family. Name and address of producer/distributor: Castello Bonomi - Via San Pietro, 46, 25030 Coccaglio BS. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
