TASTING NOTES

Production

Veuve Clicquot’s Champagne Brut La Grande Dame is a high-class vintage cuvée, composed of a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, sourced from the Grand Crus of Verzy, Verzé and Bouzy. It is produced using the traditional method with bottle fermentation and 8 years of ageing on the lees. Produced only in exceptional vintages, it reflects the excellence and pioneering vision of Madame Clicquot, the ‘Grande Dame’ of Champagne. Nutritional Values: Per 100ml = 314kJ/75kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

Champagne Brut La Grande Dame has a brilliant golden-yellow colour with subtle highlights. The bouquet is intense and complex, with notes of ripe fruit (white peach, pear), white flowers (jasmine) and hints of toasted hazelnuts and delicate spices. On the palate, it is elegant and well-structured, with a perfect balance between acidity and freshness; the finish is long, refined and persistent, with an aftertaste of dried fruit and minerals.

Occasion and Pairing

Champagne Brut La Grande Dame pairs perfectly with refined dishes such as raw seafood, oysters, white meat, elegantly prepared fish, soft cheeses and more complex dishes such as scampi cream risotto or light game. It is ideal for special occasions and elegant celebrations such as formal events, anniversaries, birthdays and sophisticated parties.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 8–10°C.

THE WINERY

Veuve Clicquot

For almost a century, the Gallo family has dedicated itself to the world of wine in the Friuli Isonzo DOC zone. The turning point came with Gianfranco, who took over the family business in 1978 and in little more than 10 years made courageous and revolutionary choices for the time that would prove to be successful and visionary. The investments in the valorisation of individual vineyards and cultivated varieties, the decision to extend the ageing of all wines beyond 12 months and to go on the market 2 years later. All countertrend choices, which 30 years later have proved successful and relevant. After the first bottling in 1978, other important milestones in the progress of Vie di Romans followed, including the construction of a new winery and the separate vinification of grapes according to their areas of origin. The Gallo family's wines preserve the expression and uniqueness of the Friulian terroir, the vineyards show little diversity due to the climate and physical and naturalel factors that act on the soil and determine its characteristics. Name and address of producer/distributor: Vie di Romans - Loc. Vie di Romans, 1, 34070 Mariano del Friuli (GO). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
