TASTING NOTES

Fermentation takes place in refined Austrian wooden vats produced by Stockinger, known for using the highest quality wood without toasting, which preserves the delicate essences of the must. Subsequently, the wine undergoes a period of aging in wooden barrels of various sizes and vintages. It appears in the glass with a charming pale garnet red color, enriched by ruby reflections and enviable transparency. On the nose, it reveals a complex and enveloping bouquet, characterized by aromas of red fruits such as cherries and plums, accompanied by elegant notes of withered flowers, spices, tobacco, and a slight minerality. With aeration, intriguing hints of leather and wet earth emerge. On the palate, the wine stands out for its body and structure, with present yet silky tannins. The freshness is beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity, creating perfect harmony. The flavors mirror the aromatic bouquet, offering long persistence and complexity that evolves over time. It pairs magnificently with red meat dishes, braises, game, and aged cheeses. The Barolo Vigna Francia by Giacomo Conterno is a wine that tells the story of the territory and tradition, ideal for enjoying on its own to appreciate every nuance. Bottle aging further enhances its depth and complexity, making it a prized choice for special occasions. The ideal serving temperature is 16°-18°C. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Conterno

In the municipality of Monforte d'Alba, in the Piedmont countryside, lies the Conterno Winery. Here, the family of the same name that founded the winery is committed to producing and bottling its Barolo in search of the best balance and perfect quality. The winery's constant work has allowed it to evolve into the great establishment it is today, where the oldest traditions are still carefully followed, alongside the most modern and avant-garde techniques, to offer high-quality Piedmontese wines and unmistakably stylish red wines from Piedmont. Since it was founded, the fame of Conterno wines has spread throughout the area, giving the winery a meteoric rise. The success, however, has not affected the stable foundations of the family, which still works together in its production chain today. Their strengths remain the same: care for tradition, a search for expression of the terroir and a deep respect for what Piedmontese nature has to offer. Name and address of producer/distributor: Conterno - Via Ginestra, 1, 12065 Monforte d'Alba (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
