TASTING NOTES

Barolo Sperss is the expression of the elegant and complex face, the grapes come from the Marenca and Rivette vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba and are cultivated on fine clay-limestone marl. The fermentation takes place in steel and the wine ages for 12 months in barriques and for a further 12 months in large oak barrels. An icon of the Langhe territory, Sperss is a label reserved for true connoisseurs and great wine lovers of the highest quality. It is presented in the glass with a pretty intense garnet red color. The olfactory profile is multifaceted, with aromas of small berries, floral nuances of violet, delicately spicy hints, sensations of undergrowth, humus and leather. The sip is deep, long and complex. It stretches harmoniously on a dense and elegant tannic texture, accompanying the palate towards a lingering finish and pleasant freshness. A bottle that can be opened with pleasure in combination with mature cheeses or with a fresh pasta with meat sauce. To fully appreciate its style, Barolo Sperss must be served at a serving temperature of 18/20 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Gaja

The Gaja winery is a historic and renowned entity in Piedmont, a symbol of the production of Barbaresco, named after the town it is in. Since 1859, handing down the passion for quality wine from father to son, this company has established itself on the wine scene not only in Italy, but worldwide. Gaja counts more than 92 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Langhe, a land that has always been the mother of white wines from Piedmont of excellence. The rows also include local red varieties, made unmistakably vigorous by the properties of the soil. But terrain alone is not enough. In fact, the Gaja winery can boast a great team that has always been attentive to respecting traditions and adopting new production techniques. Intelligence, intuition and perseverance make Gaja wines delicate in flavour but strong in their expression of the land and the hard work of the founding family. Name and address of producer/distributor: Gaja - Via Torino, 18, 12050 Barbaresco (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
