TASTING NOTES

Barolo Riserva Villero is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, sourced from one of the most renowned vineyards in the entire Barolo denomination, located in Castiglione Falletto. The grapes are hand-harvested with careful selection of the bunches on October 5th. After a gentle pressing, the alcoholic fermentation takes place over about 4 weeks in stainless steel vats, in contact with the skins and with regular pump-overs to aid in the extraction of color and tannins. The maceration includes both a cold pre-fermentation phase and a post-fermentation phase, carried out using the traditional submerged cap method. The malolactic fermentation is completed in oak barrels, where the wine matures for about 30 months, developing the finesse that gives it great complexity. The wine presents a brilliant and intense ruby red color, typical of great Barolos, which evolves into more orange hues as it ages. On the nose, it is full, complex, and elegant, with notes of ripe red fruit such as cherry and plum, complemented by delicate hints of undergrowth and herbal notes, which reflect the unique terroir of Castiglione Falletto. On the palate, the wine is balanced, silky, and enveloping, with a rich and well-defined structure. The tannins are present but well integrated, giving the wine a sensation of finesse and smoothness. The mouthfeel is complete and harmonious, with a long and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant mineral freshness. This Barolo pairs wonderfully with structured and flavorful dishes. It is perfect with red meats such as braised beef, filet mignon, or lamb chops, which highlight its complexity. It also pairs excellently with game meats such as wild boar, venison, or pheasant, which enhance its power and finesse. The wine is ideal with dishes featuring porcini mushrooms or truffle, which further accentuate its elegance. For cheese pairings, it complements aged pecorino, castelmagno, and toma piemontese, cheeses that reflect the wine's complex structure and refined character. Barolo Riserva Villero is perfect for special occasions such as anniversaries, weddings, or elegant dinners, thanks to its complexity and finesse. It is also an excellent wine for meditation, offering a sensory experience that evolves over time. Additionally, its ability to age further in the bottle makes it an excellent choice for collectors and lovers of great Barolos. To fully appreciate all the nuances of the wine, it is recommended to decant it a few hours before serving. The ideal serving temperature is between 18-20°C, to enhance its aromatic complexity and tannic structure, ensuring a rich and satisfying tasting experience. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Vietti

In the heart of the Langhe, an area known for the production of the traditional Barolo, Cantina Vietti has stood for four generations. However, it was in the 1960s that Alfredo Currado revolutionised wine production, from monovarietal vinification to Etichette d'Autore, original Vietti wines created by artists and inspired by a specific vintage. In the following years, the Vietti family continued along the road of experimentation in search of quality, contributing to the creation of one of the most renowned brands of Piedmontese wine made in Italy. To this day, Cantina Vietti, acquired by Krause Holdings, combines the traditions and passion carried on for generations with innovative techniques to ensure the production of high quality wines and an a href="https://www.signorvino.com/it/vini/inno_alla_natura/">viticoltura and sustainable viticulture that enhances and safeguards the surrounding terroir. The end result of the excellent Piedmontese wines produced by Cantina Vietti, which convey the love for the surrounding area and the dedication of its producers, can be appreciated on the palate. Name and address of producer/distributor: Vietti - Piazza Vittorio Veneto, 5, 12060 Castiglione Falletto (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
