TASTING NOTES

Production

The Barolo Bussia Vigna Mondoca by Oddero is a Piedmontese red wine made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes sourced from the homonymous cru located in Monforte d'Alba at an average altitude of 400 meters. The vines are approximately 35 years old on average. The fermentation, with skin contact, lasts about a month, after which the wine matures in large 30hl oak barrels for 36 months, during which it also undergoes malolactic fermentation, before being bottled. The total aging time in the cellar is 5 years.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Of a garnet red color, it expresses great complexity on the nose; along with dried flowers and small red fruits, there is a balsamic note reminiscent of the forest floor, a good spiciness, and a distinctive hint of goudron. On the palate, it is deep and very complex; the tannins have a dense and powerful structure, and the wine has a long-lasting finish.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine for special occasions, it pairs perfectly with braised red meats or game.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

THE WINERY

Oddero

The Poderi e Cantine Oddero company dates back to the end of the 18th century. In fact, several documents attest to the fact that the Oddero family was already cultivating its own vineyards in the hamlet of Santa Maria di La Morra. Giacomo Oddero, an important name among wine producers in Piedmont, skilfully organised his business before leaving it in the hands of his daughter Mariacristina and grandchildren Isabella and Pietro. Representing the seventh generation of winegrowers, they now run the company with the same love for tradition as the founding fathers, but with an eye on progress. The 35 hectares of Poderi Oddero stand on a natural terrace set against the backdrop of the Langhe hills, a World Heritage Site. Oddero's vineyards, where no chemical herbicides are ever used, are rooted in clay-limestone soil, yielding grapes that express the essence of the terroir from which they come and from which they make excellent wines, mostly red. Inside the Oddero winery, an old farmhouse beside a more modern building equipped with advanced oenological technology, only natural yeasts are used for environmentally friendly production. Important labels are therefore obtained, including Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Barbera d'Asti and Moscato, examples of the perfect combination of respect for tradition, passion and continuous innovation. Name and address of producer/distributor: Oddero - Frazione S. Maria, 28, 12064 La Morra (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
