TASTING NOTES

Production

Here, the grapes are vinified using the traditional method, involving the use of large oak casks, as is customary among the traditionalists of the Langhe. This cru is a harmonious blend of elegance, boasting great character and excellent ageing potential. After manual harvesting, the grapes are crushed and destemmed, followed by fermentation with maceration. It ages in oak barrels of various sizes for two years and spends a further year in the bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

The colour is a brilliant ruby red with garnet highlights. On the nose, the complexity of red fruit takes centre stage, ranging from dried flowers to balsamic notes, whilst the tannins glide silkily across the palate. A vertical, full-bodied and persistent wine with astonishing length.

Occasion and Pairing

A substantial red, best enjoyed with stewed red meats or game, rather than blue-veined cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

Allergens: Solfiti

THE WINERY

Prunotto

In the heart of the Langhe, between the Barbaresco and Barolo areas, lies the small town of Alba. Here, on the right bank of the Tanaro River, stands the Prunotto farm and its crops. The winery is lovingly run by the same family, which passes down the area's winemaking secrets in pursuit of production that is both innovative and traditional. Since it was founded, the company's main goal has always been to enhance the unique characteristics of this area of Piedmont. The soils and vineyards have been treated with care and cultivated with the utmost respect for the timing of each grape, to arrive at the creation of an elegant Piedmontese wine full of character, able to tell the best of the territory in every glass. The Prunotto company carefully manages a modern, state-of-the-art production, starting from the cultivation of its fifty hectares up to the bottling process, to offer a final product with attention to every detail. Name and address of producer/distributor: Prunotto - 89, Borgo Bussia, Monforte D’Alba, CN 12065. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
