TASTING NOTES

Production

Sorì San Lorenzo comes from the homonymous cru and is a Barbaresco crafted from the purest expression of Nebbiolo, Piedmont's greatest and most famous red grape variety. The grapes, carefully selected during the manual harvest, undergo a two-stage aging process, essential for fully developing the wine's characteristics. First, the wine spends 12 months in barriques, followed by another year in large oak barrels. After this total maturation period of 24 months, the wine is ready to be bottled and released to the market.

Organoleptic Characteristics

It presents a brilliant red color reminiscent of garnet, and on the nose, it is superb: notes of underbrush, ripe fruit, spices, and subtle hints of aromatic herbs. On the palate, it showcases an extraordinary body, with a warm and enveloping taste. The Nebbiolo tannins are clearly evident, along with its remarkable acidity. Perfectly balanced and extraordinarily persistent.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine suitable for very long aging and perfect for a special occasion. It pairs wonderfully with dishes of great structure, ideally based on red meats and game, but it also shines when served alongside aged and very mature cheeses.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.

THE WINERY

Gaja

The Gaja winery is a historic and renowned entity in Piedmont, a symbol of the production of Barbaresco, named after the town it is in. Since 1859, handing down the passion for quality wine from father to son, this company has established itself on the wine scene not only in Italy, but worldwide. Gaja counts more than 92 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Langhe, a land that has always been the mother of white wines from Piedmont of excellence. The rows also include local red varieties, made unmistakably vigorous by the properties of the soil. But terrain alone is not enough. In fact, the Gaja winery can boast a great team that has always been attentive to respecting traditions and adopting new production techniques. Intelligence, intuition and perseverance make Gaja wines delicate in flavour but strong in their expression of the land and the hard work of the founding family. Name and address of producer/distributor: Gaja - Via Torino, 18, 12050 Barbaresco (CN). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
