The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a dry red wine resulting from a blend of Corvina and Rondinella grapes from vineyards in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. After harvest, the grapes are left to dry for 4 months until January, when they are pressed and fermented. The wine then ages for 4 years in large Slavonian oak barrels and rests for a period in the bottle before leaving the cellar. It is an important wine, classy, and a flagship of the winery.
Intense ruby red in color with garnet reflections. On the nose, it offers a complex aromatic profile consisting of brandied sour cherries, plum, amarena, ripe blackberry, and blueberry, accompanied by distinct sweet spice notes along with aromas of tobacco, leather, eucalyptus, and underbrush. On the palate, it is very intense, structured, and opulent, almost creamy, with a very long finish.
A wine that can age for up to 20 years. A Veneto red to reserve for special occasions. Best enjoyed with red meat dishes such as roasts, steaks, and game.
To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16-18°C.
