TASTING NOTES

The Zenato family's adventure in the world of wine began in 1960 when Sergio followed his intuition to bet on and believe in the vineyards of the Santa Cristina estate in the famous production area of Lugana, between Sirmione and Peschiera along the southern coast of Lake Garda. After the success of the white wines based on Turbiana, the Zenato family began planting and producing red wines in the nearby Valpolicella area based on Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta, achieving great success here as well, which today is represented by 95 hectares of vineyards between Lugana, Valpolicella and an estate in Bolgheri in Tuscany. Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a dry red wine made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella, Oseleta and Croatina from the holdings in Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. After harvesting, the grapes are left to dry for 4 months until January when they are pressed and fermented. Next, the wine ages for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels and rests for a period in the bottle before leaving the wine cellar. Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. Powerful and assertive on the nose with strong aromas of ripe and jammy fruit, cinnamon and vanilla, combined with hints of tobacco, undergrowth and cocoa. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, muscular and smooth, with good structure and a long finish. A Veneto red to drink on Sundays with family or friends paired with red meat dishes such as roasts, steaks and game. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Zenato

The Venetian shore of Lake Garda, a splendid area with a mild, almost Mediterranean climate due to the proximity of the lake: this is where the well-known morainic soil of Lugana and Valpolicella is found. And this is where the Zenato winery stands. With an extension of 75 hectares of vines, the company is developed around the estates of Santa Cristina, in a small municipality near Peschiera del Garda, and Costalunga. The cultivations are respectively linked to Trebbiano di Lugana and Valpolicella, from which precious Veneto wines and renowned wines are obtained. From the carefully cultivated grapes, the winery produces white wines of immense quality, such as Lugana DOC San Benedetto and Lugana DOC Metodo Classico, and unrivalled reds, such as Amarone and Bardolino DOC. Name and address of producer/distributor: Zenato - Strada San Benedetto, 8, 37019 Peschiera del Garda (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
