TASTING NOTES

Located in an area suited to viticulture since time immemorial, the Brigaldara company boasts centuries of history, 120 hectares of vineyards and a family steeped in wine making tradition. All this is supported by a team of oenologists and agronomists dedicated to maintaining each region and grape variety’s uniqueness. The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin) Case Vecie di Brigaldara takes its name from the vineyard of the same name in Grezzana, Valpantena. A late harvest period allows the grapes to be set aside in a colder period of the year and to go through a slow and prolonged drying process, which develops distinctive aromas. A wine designed to enhance the natural characteristics of an high-altitude climate: a true Amarone delle "Vigne Alte". Made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, they are dried in boxes in the fruit cellar. The vinification ensures contact with the skins for the entire fermentation process which extracts a strong colour after two daily mixings and a mid-fermentation délestage. Aged in small wood barrels and large wood barrels for two years. Case Vecie Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is intense ruby red, with a very ripe, toasted aroma of dried cranberries, cherries and macerated figs. On the palate it gives a fresher and softer note, with aromas of cinnamon, pepper and tobacco. The finish is persistent with young, smooth full-bodied tannins. Perfect for a Sunday family lunch, perhaps with a main course meat dish. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Brigaldara

With its characteristic 16th century villa surrounded by magnificent vineyards, the Brigaldara winery in San Floriano, owned by the Cesari family since 1928, dominates the Vallata di Marano, one of the four valleys of the historic Valpolicella area. The secret of these Veneto wine producers lies in the winemaking process, a crucial element of the Brigaldara identity. Supported by significant wine-makers such as Roberto Ferrarini, one of the most important innovators in the history of Amarone, the members of the Cesari family have in fact adopted important innovations for their production facilities and the cellar. Lamberto and Antonio, the current owners, encourage a specialised layout of the vineyards with constant love and passion, based on the varieties best suited to each area of their 120 hectares. So much attention makes the Brigaldara winery stand out with its unique biodiversity, respected and enhanced through sustainable practices, both in the vineyard and in the cellar, which allow them to bottle a varied wine heritage. Name and address of producer/distributor: Brigaldara - Via Brigaldara, 20 37029 - San Pietro in Cariano VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
