TASTING NOTES

Ca' la Bionda was built in Valpolicella more than a century ago, when Piero Castellani planted the winery’s first vines. The Amarone Classico Della Valpolicella Riserva Ravazzol had a limited production run as it was only produced for a few years when the growing conditions ensured perfect grape ripening, providing a high degree of acidity and guaranteeing the wine’s longevity. Once the best Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara grapes are harvested from the historic Valpolicella area, they are left to dry to give the wine an intense bouquet and concentration. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place and the wine is refined for 8 years in a large new oak barrel. This wine impresses with extraordinary elegance, refinement and balance. It has a bright impenetrable red colour with violet reflections, intriguing, complex and intense aromas, and with sensations of well-ripened fruit and jam that entice you with each sip. The mouthfeel is powerful and balanced, rich and opulent, but well supported by sapidity and freshness that extend into the floral finish with a hint of spice. Ideal with red meat, cheese and savoury dishes, but especially on its own in front of the fireplace. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Ca' La Bionda

In the heart of the historic Valpolicella Classico area, in the municipality of Marano di Valpolicella, lies the Ca' La Bionda winery. Founded in 1902 by Pietro Castellani who always had a great passion for the cultivation of his vines and the vinification of his grapes, the estate covers an area of 29 hectares in the hills, on clay soil at an altitude of between 150 and 300 metres, and with a south-eastern exposure, a favourable position for ripening grapes. The quality of the wines is the result of a family tradition in which passion and sacrifice have gone hand in hand. For more than four generations, the winegrowers and winemakers of the company have dedicated themselves to the processes of cultivating, harvesting, vinification and marketing of Ca' la Bionda products, paying particular attention to the phases of natural drying of the grapes destined for the great wines: Recioto and Amarone, and subsequent ageing in special oak barrels. In the vineyard owned by Piero Castellani, current owner and namesake of the founder, no herbicides or chemical fertilisers are used, and dry stone walls have been restored to create terraces favourable to good maturation of the grapes for the creation of fine red wines from the Veneto region. Name and address of producer/distributor: Ca' la Bionda - Via Bionda, 4, 37020 Marano di Valpolicella VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
