TASTING NOTES

Production

South Tyrol Pinot Noir Barthenau Vigna Sant'Urbano is made from grapes harvested and selected by hand, and placed in small crates to keep the berries intact. 75% of the grapes are destemmed, whilst the remaining 25% are left whole for barrel fermentation. There is then a day of maceration, followed by fermentation for approximately 10 days, with the skins in constant contact with the must. Ageing in wood takes place in small French oak barrels for the first 12 months, after which the contents of the various barriques are blended into a single large oak cask, where the wine matures for a further 8 months. After bottling, the wine rests in the bottle for eight months in the cellars of the Barthenau estate before being released for sale.

Organoleptic Characteristics

In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red colour, from which an elegant bouquet of red forest fruits and sweet spices emerges, followed by a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is silky, almost caressing, in keeping with the tradition of great Pinot Noirs, characterised by perfectly integrated tannins and an uncommon aromatic concentration of small red fruits.

Occasion and Pairing

A perfect bottle for a special occasion, to be paired with red meat or game, as well as a selection of mild cheeses that complement the wine’s elegance.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Hofstatter

The I Campi winery, a signature reference point in the production of excellent Veneto wines, is a renowned reality established thanks to the commitment of Flavio Prà, heir to a historic family of winemakers. In the heart of the Valpolicella Orientale, the vineyards of I Campi are rooted in a deep soil with a varied composition that allows the growth of different grape varieties, spread over about 14 hectares. Since 2006, Flavio's method of wine production has put the very essence of the vines, the expression of the unique territory that hosts them, first. Combining modernity and tradition, each grape is treated with respect in the I Campi winery, diversifying the vinification phases to preserve quality. The aim of this meticulous work is to guarantee the uniqueness of the provenance, obtaining red wines capable of transmitting the fragrance of the region of origin and the passion of those who work there on the palate. Name and address of producer/distributor: I Campi - Via delle Pezzole, 3 - Loc. Allodola – Cellore d’Illasi VR. Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
