Maso Michei is located in an isolated area in the high mountains in southern Trentino. The 13 hectares of vines, purchased by Martin Foradori in 2017, grow at altitudes of between 790 and 850 metres with a sunny, south-facing exposure. At this height above sea level, which is remarkable and challenging for wine-growing, the vines grow slowly and the grapes ripen late, resulting in fresh, fruity and enduring wines. Sauvignon offers its best in cool climates, and Hofstätter's Michei is no exception. This is a white wine with distinct minerality, which shows its youthfulness in the greenish reflections that adorn a brilliant straw yellow. Freshness reappears on the nose, where the elderflower typical of the grape is joined by darker notes of gooseberries and redcurrants, with a flinty finish. The palate is vibrant, mineral, savoury, supported by the perfect balance of acidity. A wine to be drunk every day, at the start of a meal or paired with medium-bodied fish and shellfish-based dishes.
