TASTING NOTES

The sea is the element that most distinguishes and enhances Sardinia: Akenta Sub is a Sardinian sparkling wine aged under water, produced from a selection of Vermentino di Sardegna DOC grapes, left to age at about 40 meters deep. Thanks to the refinement in the seabed, Akenta becomes an Akenta Sub that when it sees the light it oxygenates in the glass and tells its journey in a taste of a unique intensity. In addition to the unique flavour of the sea, Akènta Sub has another exclusive feature: its packaging. The bottle, in the period spent below sea level, has natural elements given by the phenomenon of fouling and the work of marine organisms, very careful artisans of the sea, which create special drawings on the bottle, giving an exceptional uniqueness to each pack of Akènta Sub and making it a unique piece, a collection. Underwater aging is a magical moment, from which a unique wine is born, an extraordinary wine that tells a unique story. In the glass, Akenta has a pale and brilliant straw yellow color, with greenish reflections. The nose is intense with white and yellow flowers and fruity hints, which combine perfectly with a light note of bread crust. On the palate it has a good body, fresh, soft and pleasant flavor. Akenta sparkling wine is excellent as an aperitif and ideal to accompany all dishes based on fish, seafood and shellfish. To fully appreciate the style, Akenta Sub should be served at a service temperature of 10/12 ºC. Read more Read less
THE WINERY

Santa Maria La Palma

In Pedemonte, in the heart of the Veneto region and in one of the best-known areas for the production of quality wines, stands the Santa Sofia winery, inside an ancient aristocratic villa designed and built by the renowned architect Andrea Palladio. Since the 1960s, the winery has been in the hands of the Begnoni family, which has also owned it since then. With its 53 hectares of mainly stony land, the winery, under the leadership of the family, has always had the goal of expanding its distribution both nationally and internationally. Initially intending to offer all typical Veronese productions, the company has focused on specific products and selected crops over time, the products of which are harvested in the vineyard with extreme care at every single step. Today Santa Sofia produces and distributes very structured and elegant red wines, including Valpolicella Superiore Montegradella, Recioto della Valpolicella, Bardolino, Amarone, Arlèo, Merlot Corvina and Predaia. However, there is no shortage of fresh, young whites, such as Custoza, Lugana, Pinot Grigio and Soave. Name and address of producer/distributor: Santa Sofia - Via Cà Dedè, 61, 37029 Pedemonte (VR). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
