TASTING NOTES

Production

The Contini winery, situated in the Tirso Valley, is run by the fourth generation and continues to evolve, both in winemaking techniques and in its philosophy. Mamaioa, meaning ‘ladybird’ in Sardinian, symbolises the natural world and an unspoilt environment. For this reason, the winery cultivates its grapes using integrated farming methods, with a very low sulphite content, and limits the use of chemicals in the vineyard and treatments in the winery. Vermentino di Sardegna Mamaioa benefits from a Mediterranean climate with mild winters, limited rainfall and very hot, breezy summers. The grapes come from a vineyard situated on calcareous-clay soil, which lends the wine minerality and freshness. Once harvested, the bunches are gently crushed and pressed, followed by alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Ageing takes place in steel and concrete tanks, followed by a few months in the bottle. Energy value per 100 ml: E=310 kJ/74 kcal

THE WINERY

Contini

A profound care for the territory and local traditions, an ancient history and constant production, always attentive to new technologies. The Contratto winery is a guarantee when you are looking for exceptional Piedmontese wines. Giuseppe Contratto founded his winery in 1867, when he began making wine from Moscato grapes from the Monferrato area, producing one of the first Italian sparkling wines refermented in the bottle. Also in those years the Contratto family began the construction of the historic cellar, which was then completed in the twentieth century. It was around 1910 that Contratto wines began to conquer foreign markets, becoming synonymous with prestige and quality in the world of sparkling wines, so much so that the company became the official supplier of the Vatican, the Belgian royal house and the royal family of Savoy. At the basis of the philosophy of the Rivetti family, there is the urgency of looking forward without ever losing contact with one's roots. The objective that Contratto sets itself is to tell through a glass of Alta Langa the great potential of the Piedmontese hills in terms of the Classic Method, taking care of the vineyards every day in order to bring exceptional grapes to the cellar. Discover the complete selection of Contratto on Signorvino wines and let yourself be won over by the authentic taste of Piedmont. Explore all Piedmontese wines. Name and address of producer/distributor: Contratto - Via Giovanni Battista Giuliani, 54 - 14053 Canelli (AT). The products from this cellar should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
