TASTING NOTES

Production

The Castelli di Jesi area is a series of amphitheatres overlooking the sea on gently rolling hills. The ancient white grape variety Verdicchio has found an ideal environment here, cradled by the breezes that sweep from the Adriatic Sea towards the Apennines and the currents that descend from the mountains back towards the sea. The DOC covers 24 municipalities in the provinces of Ancona and Macerata around the town of Jesi, traditionally known as ‘castelli’ (castles) as they were fortified centres during the Middle Ages. Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva is a dry white wine produced exclusively from Verdicchio grapes. It is the flagship wine of the Bucci family; the grapes come from their finest vineyards, over 40 years old, harvested at perfect ripeness and strictly by hand. The grapes are gently pressed and the must fermented in stainless steel. Ageing takes place for one year in large Slavonian oak barrels and one year in the bottle.

Organoleptic Characteristics

Yellow in colour with golden highlights. On the nose, the fruit gives way to notes of almond, wild herbs and thyme. Aromas of spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, with a hint of hydrocarbon on the finish. On the palate, it is full and enveloping, with a soft, creamy body that accentuates notes of butter and hazelnut. It remains fresh and long-lasting.

Occasion and Pairing

Perfect for enjoying with family or friends at the weekend or to celebrate a special occasion. Pair with white meats such as Milanese cutlets, lemon-roasted chicken breast and pork ribs.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 12–14°C.
