The Vie de Romans winery is a historical winery located in Mariano del Friuli and one of the most representative in the region. Led by Gianfranco Gallo since 1978, it stands out for its profound knowledge of the terroir and the close link to the area. With great attention and care, Gianfranco Gallo carries on together with the tradition of bold and innovative winemaking choices. With the restructuring of the wine cellar in 1990, all the white wines began to be sold two years after the harvest. The grapes express their potential to the fullest thanks above all to the effect of the continental winds from the east, known as the Bora, which reach the Soča plateau from Slovenia and allow a good temperature range and slow ripening of the grapes. Venezia Giulia Bianco Dut Un is a dry white wine made from 50% Chardonnay grapes and 50% Sauvignon Blanc grapes from the Alte banks bordering the Isonzo River. Soil with plenty of skeleton and well draining with the distinctive reddish colour resulting from iron oxide. Hand-picked bunches, careful berry selection in the wine cellar, soft pressing and fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks to preserve the aromatic charge. The wine rests on fine lees for 9 months and spends an additional 20 months bottle ageing before leaving the wine cellar. Lemon yellow in colour, on the nose it releases a great aromatic profile thanks to Sauvignon Blanc. Notes of citrus, green apple, pear, tropical fruit and cut grass. The softness of the Chardonnay and the creaminess resulting from months of lees stirring come out on the palate. A Friulian white to drink on Sundays for lunch with friends and family. Best served with grilled or stewed fish dishes and shellfish. It also certainly goes well with veal and poultry.
