TASTING NOTES

The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Decennale Casalvegri was born from the desire of the winery to create a great product within the Valpolicella DOC. A satisfying and seductive bottle that originates from native vines of the territory with Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, which ferment in steel and age for 18 months in oak barrels. Casalvegri is an elegant, structured and intense wine, with a ruby red color and ample, refined, floral and fruity aromas reminiscent of small berries and enriched with spicy and balsamic tones. The palate is full and well structured, with tannins with a sweet texture and a pleasant freshness. Great to enjoy with roasts and cut beef. To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a serving temperature of 16/18 ºC.

In the heart of the historic Valpolicella Classico area, in the municipality of Marano di Valpolicella, lies the Ca' La Bionda winery. Founded in 1902 by Pietro Castellani who always had a great passion for the cultivation of his vines and the vinification of his grapes, the estate covers an area of 29 hectares in the hills, on clay soil at an altitude of between 150 and 300 metres, and with a south-eastern exposure, a favourable position for ripening grapes. The quality of the wines is the result of a family tradition in which passion and sacrifice have gone hand in hand. For more than four generations, the winegrowers and winemakers of the company have dedicated themselves to the processes of cultivating, harvesting, vinification and marketing of Ca' la Bionda products, paying particular attention to the phases of natural drying of the grapes destined for the great wines: Recioto and Amarone, and subsequent ageing in special oak barrels. In the vineyard owned by Piero Castellani, current owner and namesake of the founder, no herbicides or chemical fertilisers are used, and dry stone walls have been restored to create terraces favourable to good maturation of the grapes for the creation of fine red wines from the Veneto region.
