TASTING NOTES

Production

The history of the Masi Winery began in Valpolicella in 1772, when the Boscaini family purchased some of the valley’s most prestigious vineyards in the area known as Vaio dei Masi. Hence the name of the winery, which, 200 years on, is now in the hands of the seventh generation of the Boscaini family, who have established themselves as a global benchmark for the production of Amarone and refining, year after year, the technique of grape drying, an art already known in ancient Roman times. One of the most important and renowned estates in Veneto, it is highly active in safeguarding old native grape varieties and the traditional viticultural techniques of the Veneto region. The Valpolicella Classico Bonacosta is one of the red wines of the great Veronese tradition, interpreted by Masi in a contemporary style. Produced from Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes, it is aged in stainless steel and for 6 months in Slavonian and Allier oak barrels. 100 ml: E=331 kJ/79 kcal

Organoleptic Characteristics

It presents a lively ruby colour with good clarity. The aromas are a continuous interplay of cherries and roses, surrounded by hints of medicinal herbs. Juicy on the palate, it offers excellent freshness that beautifully balances the wine’s soft, velvety texture.

Occasion and Pairing

A wine that is extremely easy to drink, perfect with platters of cold cuts and cheeses or with risottos and soups.

Serving Temperature

To fully appreciate its style, this wine should be served at a temperature of 16–18°C.

THE WINERY

Masi

The north of Sardinia, an uncontaminated land where wind, sun and sea reign supreme, is home to the Masone Mannu farm. The beauty of this place captivated the owner of Tenuta Mara, in Romagna, convincing him to also acquire this winery in 2018. Since then, a process of conversion to biodynamic farming has begun, with the aim of further enhancing the uniqueness of the land. In the local dialect, the name Masone Mannu means “large estate” and well describes the 60 hectares of the farm that extend into the heart of Gallura, framed by granite reliefs, rivers, oaks and typical Mediterranean maquis species. 19 hectares are planted with vines, whose yields are kept deliberately low and interventions limited, favouring manual and natural processing. The same principles are also adopted within the Masone Mannu winery. The different stages of production are supervised by an expert team of technicians: from fermentation in stainless steel tanks to maturation in wooden barrels, each step gives the final product well-calibrated aromatic characteristics. In addition to Vermentino, for which the area is particularly suited, Masone Mannu wines also include other prized white wines from Sardinia, such as Malvasia, as well as reds such as Cannonau. Name and address of producer/distributor: Masone Mannu - Canale SS 199 – 07020 MONTI (OT). Products from this winery should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat sources.
